The idea of caching a dynamic, content rich site like Digg is ghoulish. Every post, each comments section, the user icons, ads, etc. all represent a separate HTTP connection for the end user. This creates a massive bottleneck on the connection trying to download each of these files with equal priority… thereby causing increased load times and a less-than-snappy feel to the site. To rectify this problem they have come up with a new technology called MXHR, or Multi-Part XML HTTP Requests. It is nice to know that people out there are good at keeping things fast, because it certainly isn’t me!

Looks like the founders are out on the curb. Newscorp CEO Jonathan Miller is said to be forcing the current management out and already has replacements on the way. I wonder how that phone call went… Ouch.
